How do you make a brochure print-ready?
A brochure is print-ready when it is a PDF in A4 (plus 3 mm bleed), in CMYK, with images at around 300 DPI, and has 2, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24 or 28 pages. Slim Folderen prints that PDF on demand and sends it by post.
Bleed and trim margin for a brochure
Bleed is 3 mm of extra image beyond the finished size. When A4 (210 × 297 mm) is trimmed, that edge is cut off; without bleed, white strips can appear. Slim Folderen expects 3 mm bleed on your PDF.
Why brochure page counts are divisible by 4
A stapled brochure is made from folded sheets: one sheet gives you four pages (front and back, left and right). That is why 8, 12, 16 and so on up to 28 pages are the standard. Slim Folderen also accepts 2 and 4 pages, but not 6 or 10.
Choosing the paper weight for a brochure
Paper weight (gsm) determines how sturdy a brochure feels. When you upload to Slim Folderen, you choose between Budget (100 g cover / 80 g inside pages), Standard (120/100 g) or Premium (120/120 g).
Making a brochure in Canva: tips for A4 print
Create an A4 document in Canva (210 × 297 mm), use 2, 4 or a multiple of 4 pages up to 28, export it as a print PDF and upload it to Slim Folderen. That way, your Canva brochure is printed one copy at a time and sent by post.
